Transforming Lives Through Research and Rehabilitation

Disabled Rehabilitation and Research Association INC (DRRA), is a nonprofit organization working on making an inclusive & accessible society. Our mission is to create transformational change through research and rehabilitation, solving issues built around the rare experiences of marginalized communities, specifically Persons with Disabilities. Working hand in hand with stakeholders, DRRA breaks down the walls, enabling day-to-day lives of all people to blossom.

Our Approach: Adaptive Learning and Participatory Planning

DRRA employ Adaptive Learning and PPMEL (Participatory Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation) approach in working. This support to create programs and initiatives that are evidence-based and rooted in the voices of the people we serve. We ensure that what we do reflects the realities of the people who are most marginalization by involving beneficiaries, families and communities and other stakeholders at every stage of the process, from data collection, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Our Research: Understanding Challenges and Driving Change

dsc_0461DRRA’s foundations lie in research. We research the social, economic, and environmental challenges of underprivileged and marginalized groups such as women, child, Persons with Disabilities, and the people vulnerable to climate change. Our developed participatory research highlights service gaps, access barriers, and systemic barriers to inclusion.

We use these findings to drive advocacy to ensure policies and practices at a local and national level promote equality and inclusion. For instance, when we identify the underlying drivers of exclusion, we design solutions that truly move the needle for overlooked and underserved people.

Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services

DRRA offers full-spectrum rehabilitation programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of Persons with Disabilities. Our services include:

  • Physical Therapy: Enhancing mobility and independence.
  • Psychosocial Support: Addressing mental and emotional well-being.
  • Vocational Training: Providing skills for economic inclusion.
  • Education: Promoting access to learning opportunities.
  • Life Skills Training: Empowering individuals to lead self-sufficient lives.

This allows DRRA support Persons with Disabilities to reach their utmost potential and engage in the community at all levels through individualized care. Our community-based rehabilitation model makes services available to families where they live, reducing stigma, and providing access to low-income families.

Advocacy for Disability Rights

dsc03043Beyond research and rehabilitation, DRRA has been a pioneer in rights promotion for persons with disabilities. Through alliances with governmental institutions, international organizations and civil society, we advocate policies and practices that are conducive to Persons with Disabilities. Through partnerships and evidence-based advocacy, we:

  • Advocate for systemic reforms to remove barriers to access.
  • Promote the implementation of human rights for Persons with Disabilities

Our Vision for a More Inclusive Future

Research and rehabilitation are the first steps towards a larger vision of social transformation, which we believe at DRRA. Our vision is of a society where no one is left behind. A society where people of all abilities can thrive. Through these means, we believe that we can help build a future where equality and inclusion are not mere ideals but facts on the ground, overcoming systemic barriers along the way.
